Scholarship Opportunity

The Melrose-Wakefield Area Branch of the American Association of University Women is pleased to offer a $1,200 scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship is available as a result of the fundraising activities of the Branch and donations received in memory of branch members and their loved ones.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

  • Be a resident of Melrose, Wakefield, Georgetown, North Reading, Malden, Stoneham, or Wilmington.
  • Attend or be a graduate of a four-year AAUW-accredited college or university.
  • Have completed at least two years of study prior to the fall of 2013. 

Special consideration will be given to applicants who have maintained high academic standing and can demonstrate a need for the scholarship for a specific purpose related to educational goals.

All applications will be processed anonymously.

To receive an application, candidates should send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

Deadline

Applications are available immediately and must be returned by April 5, 2013.

The recipient of the scholarship will be notified prior to May 8, 2013.

Melrose-Wakefield AAUW Branch

We are a local branch of the National AAUW organization meeting monthly in Melrose, MA. Each meeting features a guest speaker offering presentations on a variety of topics including local authors, women or minority owned businesses, movie screenings, health and wellness, social issues, etc. Our meetings are open to the public and guests are always welcome.
